Bali’s Top 10 Family Experiences

Beyond the beach, Bali is filled with family-friendly activities. From cultural experiences to outdoor excursions, creative activities to animal encounters, Bali is a tropical paradise the whole family can enjoy. Make the most of your time at Anantara Vacation Club Seminyak Bali, or explore the rest of the island.

1. Go fly a kite… and make one too

Traditionally used as a way to pass messages to the gods, kite flying in Bali has a long history and is still a favourite hobby of children across the island. Every Wednesday from 4.00 pm – 5.00 pm at Anantara Vacation Club Seminyak Bali kids can immerse themselves in a world of colour and creativity as they learn how to make their own kite (an excellent souvenir) and test their flying skills on the beach.

2. Splash the day away

Beat the heat by heading to Waterbom Bali in Kuta for an afternoon of slipping and swirling through the water park’s world-class slides, named by TripAdvisor as the best in Asia.

3. Set out on a safari

Little animal lovers will go wild for the Bali Safari and Marine Park, home to more than 60 species, including some rare and endangered animals like the Komodo and Orangutan.

4. Cook up a storm

An excellent option for older kids, Anantara’s Spice Spoons cooking class offers a delicious hands-on chance to dive into Balinese cuisine. Starting with a guided tour of the local food market and return to the resort for a cooking class with a master chef on the oceanfront deck before feasting on your creations.

5. Go by bike

Experience Bali’s famous terraced rice fields by taking a customised cycling tour through the Ubud countryside organised through the Club Resort. Catch a glimpse of daily life in the local villages including stops at a school and traditional Balinese temple.

6. Monkey around

Also in Ubud, visit The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary to get up close and personal with a number of primates. While you may purchase food to feed the monkeys, keep in mind that they’re still wild animals and should be treated as such.

7. Surf the waves

Want to learn how to hang ten? Let the experts from RipCurl take you and your kids out for a lesson at Legian Beach which has gentle waves for beginners. (Lessons can be arranged through the Club Resort)

8. Visit a volcano

Take a day trip to Gunung Agung. This active volcano is the highest point on the island and also believed by the Balinese to be a replica of the mythical Mount Meru, or centre of the universe.

9. Zip through the trees

Get a bird’s-eye view of Bali by zooming through the tropical canopy on zip lines at Bali Treetop Adventure Park.

10. Catch a Balinese dance performance

Known for its colourful costumes and dramatic facial expressions, Balinese dance performances often tell the tales of mesmerising myths and rituals.
