SPECIAL MESSAGE
KHUN NAOWARAT, GENERAL MANAGER AT ANANTARA SATHORN BANGKOK HOTEL

Conveniently situated in the heart of Bangkok, Anantara Vacation Club Resort at Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel offers a perfect location for a family holiday rich with culture and plenty of fun.

We asked Khun Naowarat, the hotel’s General Manager, for recommendations on what to do at this wonderful property as well as around Thailand’s capital.

Q: Can you recommend any special activities for a family vacation at your hotel?
Our Spice Spoons cooking courses are an excellent family activity combining a hands-on experience with a lesson about Thai culture and cuisine, and, of course, a delicious meal.

The course begins with shopping for ingredients with our chef at the morning fresh market then learning firsthand how to prepare traditional Thai dishes yourself, before enjoying the fruits of your labour. (Children under 12 years old can enjoy complimentary dining with their parents after the class.)

Additionally, many families appreciate experiencing an important Thai tradition that happens every morning throughout the country – making merit. Join a guide to visit the nearby Yannawa temple to make merit, in the form of a monetary or food donation, and receive a monk’s blessing.

Q: What health-related activities do you recommend?
For those who want something incredibly active, try a Muay Thai (or Thai Boxing) class with our resident specialist. Practicing yoga with our yoga master will help strengthen your mind, soul and body, while guests can also always choose to indulge in a range of massages and treatments at the luxurious Anantara Spa.

Q: What is there to do near Anantara Sathorn?

Nearby, Lumpini Park is a lush garden retreat in the centre of the city, great for morning or evening exercise while the beautiful Mom Ratchawong Kukrit Pramoj House is located just opposite the hotel. Known for its manicured garden and collection of Thai bonsai trees, the complex was the residence of a former prime minister and boasts five teak buildings that are incredible examples of traditional Thai architecture

Another family favourite is visiting Asiatique The Riverfront, a popular open-air shopping and entertainment centre along the Chao Phraya River. Here you’ll find a wide selection of shops and dining options.

At the weekend, Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market, in a reserved mangrove forest, is an excellent option to escape the city. .

Q: What are your personal three must-do activities or attractions in Bangkok?
You can’t come to Bangkok without visiting the Grand Palace, especially if it’s your first time here. The architecture is astounding. Of course, exploring the city by tuk tuk is always a fun option as well, offering families transportation and sightseeing in one exciting ride.

Finally, Bangkok is known for its famous rooftop bars, so dining at our Zoom Sky Bar & Restaurant is a must. You can take in 360-degree views of the Bangkok skyline as the sun sets while enjoying snacks and custom drink created by our leading bartenders.
