Pick Your Arena of Adventure in Queenstown

Discover New Zealand’s adventure capital by water, land and air

As one of the world’s capitals for adventure sports and striking scenery – it’s the birthplace of bungee jumping – Queenstown is an attractive destination for nature lovers and adrenaline seekers at any time of year. During the winter season, in particular, the snow-covered mountains provide an invigorating holiday backdrop for visitors of all ages.

A four-season lake and alpine destination, Queenstown offers an impressive range of year-round activities ensuring a thrilling time whenever you visit, with plenty of options to keep all members of the family occupied. At Anantara Vacation Club at Oaks Shores Queenstown, Club Points Owners will find themselves surrounded by majestic mountains and the crystal clear Lake Wakatipu, perfectly positioned to discover all that Queenstown has to the offer, with days full of adventure, exploration or relaxation, whether by land, water or air.

Land

With impressive mountains, lush valleys and otherworldly landscapes (the Lord of the Rings films were shot throughout the region), Queenstown is a nature lover’s dream destination. From the beginning of June to mid-October, it turns into a true winter wonderland with snow galore.

Queenstown is home to four international standard ski areas: Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone, offering ski runs for all ages and levels. Whether your family is new to the slopes or already avid skiers, you will find the right mountain and ski package for you to all enjoy plenty of powder. To make your ski holiday even smoother, Anantara Vacation Club offers private lockers for ski equipment storage along with direct access to buses heading to three of the four skiing areas.

Not a skier or snowboarder? Snowshoeing and ice climbing are also available as great winter activity alternatives, while simply playing in the snow or finding a good spot to go sledding in the afternoon are always hits with the little ones.

For other excursions and activities out of the snow, join a day trip exploring the nearby Mount Aspiring National Park or the historic gold mining town of Arrowtown.

Golfers can also take advantage of some of the world’s most exquisite golf courses. Make your way to Kelvin Heights Golf Course, regarded as one of the most picturesque in the world with views of The Remarkables, Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown, just 15 minutes away from the resort, or Millbrook Golf Resort, which offers challenging terrain for all levels, only 20 minutes away.

Additionally, a 25-minute drive away from the Club Resort, the Gibbston Valley Winery offers tasting tours in New Zealand’s largest wine cave blasted out of the solid rock of the Central Otago Mountains. Marvel at the natural underground cellar as you sip on award-winning vintages.

Water

Anantara Vacation Club at Oak Shores Queenstown offers Club Points Owners an exclusive waterfront location right on the banks of Lake Wakatipu including lake access. Make the most of New Zealand’s third largest lake, which boasts 80 kilometres of glacial water, by cruising aboard a vintage steamship, fishing for salmon and trout, chartering a speedboat for an exciting ride, or serenely kayaking amidst the stunning mountain scenery.

For a soothing soak, spend a day at Queenstown’s onsen pools. Hot and steamy in the winter, relaxing and sheltered in the rain, and refreshingly cool in the summer, the pools can be enjoyed throughout the seasons and are open everyday from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm. Unwind with your family or special someone in the luxurious private bathing room that opens up to the impressive mountain landscape.

In winter months, enjoy water in a different form – as ice! Grab your skates and head to the Queenstown Ice Arena for some ice skating fun that’s open to all levels.

Air

Known for its adrenaline-inducing activities, Queenstown is home to a range of thrilling air adventures, from bungee jumping to heli-hiking. Fly through forest canopies and rugged canyons on airplane or helicopter tours, try your hand at hang gliding, or take the plunge and sky dive for a memorable bird’s eye view of this stunning region.

Families can also enjoy a tranquil ride along the Skyline Queenstown Gondola, the steepest cable car lift in the Southern Hemisphere, which provides a safe, and relatively tame, activity with equally stunning vistas. Only from the air will you be able to truly see Queenstown’s complex beauty.

Still not enough to fill your holiday? Speak with Guest Services at the Club Resort to make the most of the resort facilities or book the perfect excursions for your family. You can also visit the official Queenstown website for even more suggestions on what to do and where to go in this premier destination.
