Celebrating The Upcoming April Holidays In Phuket and Bali

Anantara Vacation Club Mai Khao Phuket will be celebrating the Thai New Year, known as the Songkran Festival, on 13 April. The holiday will be marked with an afternoon of activities on-site, followed by a traditional Thai seafood buffet dinner at Chaam Restaurant. The festivities kick off with a Songkran parade featuring a long drum player, followed by water boxing, a pool splash party, paddle floating, balloon darts and can shooting.

At Chaam Restaurant, guests will be treated to a full Thai seafood buffet with live music and a fire dance. A lavish assortment of stations will include a live seafood grilling show; a make-your-own salad bar with fresh, local ingredients; a variety of Western-inspired seafood salads; artisanal baked breads; cold seafood on ice; a fusion pasta bar and a variety of delicious side dishes and desserts. (Offered from 6.30 pm – 10.00 pm for THB 1,199++ for adults and THB 599++ for children. Prices are subject to tax and service charge.)

On 14 April, guests can attend the annual turtle and shark release event on Mai Khao beach. Each year, the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation collects turtle eggs between November and February and stores them at the Phuket Marine Biological Centre hatchery. Young hatchlings are then protected for one year to improve their chance of survival. Likewise, the Centre breeds bamboo sharks, which are struggling to maintain their numbers in Thailand’s waters. Guests who adopt a turtle or bamboo shark will be invited to a special ceremony which sees them being released back into sea. Adoption donations are set at THB 5,000 for a turtle and THB 3,000 for a bamboo shark.

In Indonesia, Anantara Vacation Club Seminyak Bali will be celebrating Galungan and Kuningan, an annual 10-day Balinese holiday marking the vanquishing of good over evil; and Easter. The resort’s signature on-site restaurant, Serai, will be offering special 3-course menus for these holidays. For Galungan and Kuningan, Serai will feature a family-style platter including a Balinese seafood Soup and a selection of traditional main courses such as Kerang Mebase Merah and Sate Ikan, topped off with Irisan Buah Segar for dessert. (Offered at IDR 350.000++ per couple. Prices are subject to tax and service charge.)

Easter will be celebrated on 16 April with a special Balinese-infused brunch menu. The family-style menu starts with a Peking duck rice paper roll appetizer, followed by a selection of main dishes such as prawns in honey mustard and fish in garlic herb sauce. The meal draws to an end with homemade brownies, drizzled in chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries. (Offered from 1.00 pm – 4.30 pm at IDR 375.00++ per couple.
